Child Safety Store Birthday Celebration

The Safety Store
Time: 2 p.m.
Date: Friday, August 12, 2011
Location: St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, Lobby
Cost: FREE
Info: (813) 554-8510

The Safety Store is turning One and to celebrate you can join in the fun! There will be cupcakes, arts and crafts for kids, and discounts of 20% off purchases.

Each year over 3 million U.S. children ages 14 and under are seen in emergency centers for accidental injuries that occur in the home, and over 2,000 of these children die as a result of their injuries. Safety experts estimate that approximately 90 percent of these injuries are preventable. That's where The Safety Store comes in.

It provides a comfortable environment for families to shop, learn and ask questions about how to keep children safe. The Safety Store is staffed by trained Child Advocates who help families determine their safety needs and select appropriate products. The Child Advocates also provide free education on how to use and maintain the safety products, including demonstrations on how to install a child passenger seat and the correct way to wear a bike helmet.

New Winnie the Pooh Movie is as Sweet as Honey!

Last Saturday I had the privilege of review the brand new Winnie the Pooh film that will be publicly released in theaters Friday July 15th 2011.

This film was just so adorable. It's classic animation and let's be honest, you don't see that a lot on the big screen anymore. The much cherished characters were as sweet and lovable as ever and even with the new voices you still felt as though you were watching and listening to familiar friends from your youth. Nostalgia aside, the plot was also cute and there were several laugh out loud moments for both kids and adults.

Winnie the Pooh wakes up and is... by no surprise hungry for... you guessed it... HONEY!
On his journey to find honey he and his friends also find themselves on a mission to replace Eeyore's lost tail. With a slight misunderstanding the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood also must rescue Christopher Robin from the terrible and dreaded Backson. During all the adventures or better yet, misadventures the group brings you to laughter several times and even has you tapping your toes to some original musical numbers. It's a sweet, sweet movie and it was just wonderful to see some of my most beloved childhood characters back on the big screen. Sharing it with my children was almost like a passing of a torch and this movie will help perpetuate a never ending love of all things Winnie the Pooh. With only a 69 minute run time it's not too long but is non stop fun. My only negative on the movie is that some characters were missing that I would have loved to see (like Gopher). But all in all it's a great film and I would give it two thumbs up! (Besides, what Queen Bee wouldn't love a film with a musical dedicated to honey?)

Summer Unplugged

This summer, your children 16 and under can bowl for free at your local AMF. Sound too good to be true? It’s not! Just register your children , and you’ll receive your first coupons via email within 24 hours for 2 free games per child per day. Then, every Sunday you’ll receive weekly coupons all summer long. Children love bowling; it’s fun, active, social and local and – best of all – it’s FREE! That’s how AMF does summer! You can even add adults to the game!

Need Wi-Fi?

I know I can't be the only mom who's been running around and needed wireless internet and found myself up a creek without a connection. Now having the hindsight I should have bought the Wi-Fi Enabled models for my Kindle and Ipad but what can you do? Wait until you get home or hope you pass a Barnes and Noble or Starbucks right? WRONG!

I found a very awesome sight that lists free Wi-Fi spots across the country.

The Wi-Fi-FreeSpot Directory is awesome for finding a place to download your next book or pop on your email. The only draw back is if you are on the road and haven't checked out the site to see where you can go before hand the site is kind of moot. After all, if you could go online to check the site you wouldn't need the site right? But at the very least the site is handy and informative when planning a trip or outing.

"A Wi-Fi-FreeSpot™ is a location that offers Free Wi-Fi high speed wireless internet access to their customers and guests and/or the general public. Whether you're a local resident or a business or vacation traveler just passing by, The Wi-Fi-FreeSpot™ Directory will help you find all types of Free Wi-Fi locations that are open to the general public, customers or guests."

I especially like the fact that you can fill in a form to add or remove spots with the directory. It's easy, convenient and useful. What more could a Queen Bee ask for?

Getting Family Bee up and Buzzing

I am so excited. I have had this idea in my head for a long time to create a parenting website. I know what you're thinking... "Not such an original idea". I know that but I also know that I spend a lot of time on parenting sites. They all always seem to be lacking something or in some cases have a bit too much of something. So I wanted a site that I felt like any parent would appreciate and hopefully love.
